Airshow 3D Moving Map System Enters Asia-Pacific Market

EVA Airways To Install Rockwell Collins System In 36 Aircraft

Taiwan-based EVA Airways has selected Rockwell Collins enhanced Airshow(r) 4200D 3D Moving Map system for 36 of its aircraft, including three new Airbus A330s with first delivery later this year, and its fleet of 33 Airbus A330-200, Boeing 777-300ER, and Boeing 747-400 aircraft. The announcement was made Wednesday at the China IFEC Summit 2011 in Guangzhou, China.

"This announcement confirms the latest generation Airshow Moving Map system as the market leader in delivering an exceptional passenger experience," said TC Chan, vice president and managing director, Asia-Pacific for Rockwell Collins. "We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with EVA and supporting the company with system implementation."

Rockwell Collins enhanced Airshow 4200D 3D Moving Map system includes a new graphical design that utilizes NASA's Blue Marble map data, which is based on actual satellite imagery, to provide a modernized view of real-time flight information to passengers. Extensive new features and performance enhancements not only deliver unparalleled 3D graphical realism, but also add even more new capabilities to what is already the industry's most popular moving map system.

New features and performance enhancements include:

  • A new global map package that provides major improvements in detail and coverage worldwide
  • Innovative new time and flight status displays
  • Realistic day and night views on all 3D maps
  • A new head-up display designed to offer a pilot's-eye view of the flight

Additionally, airlines can deliver custom, branded content through the Airshow 4200D system - including on-screen aircraft livery, promotional videos, safety briefings, and passenger greetings.
