Barnstorming: Here We Go Again...

A Short Note About Recent Efforts

In the 12 hours or so after we did our latest update on the Icon mess, we got the (almost) expected threatening call from an anonymous number… promising all manner of headaches and woes (even claiming to have the ‘the Cirrus file’ on me—really? I’ve got a file?)…

It never fails, I’ve seen this dozens of times over the years… and really wonder when these jerks will get the hint that such tactics have never worked before and certainly won't work now.

So... we tell the truth and get attacked for it – which (in part) fuels my occasional questions about the cowardice and pliability of today’s aviation media/advertorialists and why so little truth gets told.

What kind of crazy person (besides, admittedly, me) would willingly put up with this abuse?

Sooner or later, though, this industry has to face up to the fact that there are bad actors out there, and that they, in part and collectively, are responsible for many of aviation’s current ills. If and when GA and its ilk fall into permanent/irreversible disrepair, it is the liars, the crooks, the cheats and the scam artists that will have done the lion's share of the preventable damage to us all.

I pray that we can avoid this... but I'm not as confident as I used to be.

In the meantime, I and ANN will do the best we can... we will tell you the truth, we will treat you like a trusted friend, and we will NOT bow down to those who want to spin the truth into something far less accurate than reality -- even though it can be diffificult, and costly, and a hassle. Still... there is a price, folks, and when I can find the time, I'll fill you in on what that really means.
