Dynon Announces Airmate Partnership

Aviation Data Subscription Embeds Sectional Charts, Plates, and Database with SkyView Avionics

Airmate and Dynon are embarking on a partnership to enable US-based SkyView operators to use a complete set of aviation data, with a single tiered subscription that includes both VFR and IFR charts, approach plates, and updated databases.

The Airmate database will update every 28 days to include the freshest collection of airfields, airspaces, radio beacons, waypoints, and obstacles for the contiguous US, Alaska, and Hawaii. Where other database subscriptions can run the gamut from affordably minimalistic to eye-wateringly expensive, Airmate is offering their comprehensive data pack at a fairly benign $49.90 per year.

Installation is done with USB drive transfers using a  Windows or MacOS computer, transferring the desired information into the SkyView suite. Training and flight planning is aided by the Airmate EFB app, which allows pilots to load flight plans as well as SID, STAR, and RNAV approaches, into the box via Wi-Fi.

Dynon is careful to note that instrument approaches are provided for flight training use only - the IFR data does not contain glideslope data, and is not certified. The use of approaches similarly requires an instrument certified GPS.
