Report: German GA Plane Intercepted By French Fighter

Pilot Arrested After Landing

A German single-engine aircraft was intercepted Thursday in restricted Parisian airspace by a French Mirage 2000 fighter jet.

The smaller aircraft was ordered to land at an air force base in Tours, just southwest of the capital, the Defense Ministry in Paris told Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

The pilot was arrested after he landed, and flights at Paris' Orly airport were briefly suspended.

The Defense Ministry said the reason for the action was the uncertainty over the pilot's flight plan that occurred because of lack of contact with the pilot.

The aircraft, with two people on board, was believed to have been enroute from Bohmte, near Osnabrueck, to La Rochelle on the French Atlantic coast.
