Prince Harry Helps Thwart Elephant Poachers In Africa

Flies Helicopters Over Liwonde National Park As A Spotter

Prince Harry has traded his military uniform for a civilian flight suit, and most recently is assisting in an effort to thwart elephant poachers in Africa.

The U.K. newspaper The Daily Mail reports that the Prince has been flying as a spotter in support of an anti-poaching effort at Liwonde National Park, helping relocate the endangered animals to a wildlife sanctuary in northern Malawi.

Prince Harry is using his flying skills to herd elephants into an area where they can be tranquilized by vets in a second helicopter. They are then placed in crates using a crane and shipped north 450 miles overland to the Nkhotakota reserve.

The Prince joined the 500 Elephants Project some three weeks ago, according to the report, and plans to stay through the end of August ... living with the team in tents along a riverbank.
