Dassault Aviation has
announced that Rockwell Collins’ Flight Dynamics Enhanced
Vision System will be available as an option for all new Falcons
equipped with the EASy flight deck.
Certification and installation of the Enhanced Flight Vision
System (EFVS) is expected in the middle of 2006 for the Falcon
2000EX EASy and 900EX EASy. The equipment will also be available on
the new state-of-the-art Falcon 7X.
“We have a long history of providing the latest head-up
display technology for Dassault’s Falcon aircraft,”
said John Desmond, president of Flight Dynamics for Rockwell
Collins. “With the addition of EVS technology, Falcon
operators will have the situational awareness they need to operate
with increased safety in low-visibility conditions.”
The Rockwell Collins
Flight Dynamics Enhanced Vision System presents an image of the
external environment on the HGS and head down displays, to enhance
pilot situational awareness of terrain and the airport environment
in low visibility situations. When displayed on the HGS, EVS allows
the pilot to descend below minimums, if the visual references to
the intended runway are visible using the EVS. The system utilizes
the CMC Electronics SureSight I-series Enhanced Vision System
Infrared (EVS-IR) sensor.
“The advantages and safety features of flying with EFVS
are well known,” said Eric Monsel, vice president of programs
from Dassault Falcon. “As we evaluated possible solutions, we
were looking for both reliability as well as the advantage of full
integration with the HGS. We believe our EFVS package will provide
superior performance and integration over any other system
currently available.”
The company's patented HGS technology is certified and operating
on business aircraft, airlines and military transport aircraft.
With 1,700 systems delivered, the HGS system has accumulated over
13 million flight hours in revenue service.
