Fairchild Dornier 328 to Fly Again?

AvCraft Aviation owner, entrepreneur Ben Bartel, says he has completed the deal he began in December, to restart production of the Fairchild Dornier 328.

The deal, reported to have been for dollars "in the neighborhood of 100,000,000," included 18 completed aircraft. Bartel says he has them all sold; and he's close to sitting on orders for more than that, he says. He told reporters, "I believe there’s a future for between 300 and 500 of these things," and added, "We have real serious interest already for north of 100 airplanes."

Production is to stay where it was, in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. Bartel, CEO of AvCraft, plans to finish them out per customer spec. After all, AvCraft holds one STC for a 328 interior; and is darned good at aircraft interiors...
