Black Diamond Jet Team Performs Flyover For Indianapolis 500

Four-Plane Diamond Formation Seen By Crowd Of 300,000

The Black Diamond Jet Team, a civilian-owned aerobatic jet team based in Lakeland, FL, performed a flyover before the Indianapolis 500 IndyCar Race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway over Memorial Day Weekend.

The flyover consisted of four fighter jet aircraft in a diamond formation and occurred during the finale of the National Anthem, which was sung by the Grammy-award-winning recording artist LeAnn Rimes. The Indianapolis 500 is one of the largest and most prestigious races in motorsports, with attendance regularly reaching 300,000 at the annual event.

Jerry Kerby, Team Lead, states, "It was an honor for us to perform at such a world renowned event. This flyover was especially meaningful for us since it was during Memorial Day Weekend and many of our pilots are current or former members of the US military. Our team would like to thank all the men and women of the US Armed Services and our allies for their service and their sacrifice."
