Sky Regional Pilots Join ALPA

An 'Overwhelming Majority' Of Pilots Filed Membership Cards Last Month, Union Says

The 300 airline pilots of Sky Regional Airlines have joined the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA). An overwhelming majority of the pilots, who provide regional service for Air Canada Express, filed membership cards with the Canada Industrial Relations Board last month, seeking ALPA as their legal bargaining representative.

By joining ALPA, the Sky Regional pilots now have access to the Association’s vast resources, from aeromedical advisors and insurance benefits to our world-class safety structure.

“Today, ALPA is stronger with the addition of the Sky Regional pilots,” said ALPA president Capt. Tim Canoll. “Their decision to join the world’s largest nongovernmental aviation safety organization will help to advance our profession in North America and around the world and ensure that we maintain the safest air transport system in the world.”

The focus for Sky Regional pilots now shifts to the ALPA membership drive and establishing permanent pilot representatives and negotiating their first collective agreement under the Canada Labour Code.
