Companies Planning To Build FF-1080 Prototype Aircraft
Metalcraft Technologies, Inc. (MTI)
and American Utilicraft Corporation have entered into formal
discussions with the idea of signing a contract for the manufacture
of the fuselage for the FF-1080 flight test and production
aircraft.
The companies expect to finalize their negotiations and enter
into a definitive agreement to begin construction of the center
fuselage section for the Pre-Production Prototype FF-1080 aircraft
within the next 30 days.
For the flight test aircraft, MTI proposes to:
- Manufacture all the details for the fuselage.
- Design and manufacture all required assembly jigs and
fixtures.
- Assemble the forward and aft sections of the fuselage
(including horizontal and vertical stabilizers) at their facility
in Cedar City (UH).
- Provide technical assistance and supervision for the assembly
of the center section of the fuselage at the American Utilicraft
facility in Lawrenceville (GA), on Gwinnett County Airport (LZU).
American Utilicraft intends to conduct final assembly of the
prototype aircraft at its planned (to be constructed) 80,000 sq. ft
Final Assembly Facility in New Mexico.
It is American Utilicraft management's opinion that MTI is
particularly well suited to undertake this type of activity for the
Company because of MTI's long-term experience in the aerospace
subassembly manufacturing business, and particularly their "hands
on" involvement in the production of detail parts and major
structural assemblies for Sino Swearingen, Eclipse, and Safire
flight test articles.
