EASA Approves Aspen Aircraft Model List STC

The Evolution Flight Display System Now Approved For More Than 700 Models In Europe

EASA has awarded an Approved Model List Supplemental Type Certification (AML-STC) to Aspen Avionics for its Evolution Flight Display. The EASA approval, effective August 6, 2013 authorizes installation of Aspen’s system in more than 700 aircraft registered in EASA countries.

“The Evolution Flight Display System is the first practical and affordable way to bring high-resolution glass cockpit displays and their benefits to the general aviation fleet,” said John Uczekaj, Aspen Avionics’ President and CEO. “This approval represents a major milestone for those European pilots who want to move up to a glass cockpit with the latest in safety features including upgrades like synthetic vision.”

The EASA AML-STC list includes over 40 aircraft manufacturers representing over 700 individual aircraft models now eligible for retrofit with Aspen’s Evolution displays. The approval is for the installation of the EFD 1000 Pilot PFD, the EFD 1000 Pro PFD, the EFD 1000C3 Pro PFD, the EFD 1000 MFD and the EFD 500 MFD. Associated upgrades and enhancements to the system, including Evolution Hazard Awareness, Evolution Synthetic Vision, and the EA 100 Autopilot adapter are included in the approval.

Aircraft currently using software version 1.1 may convert to version 2.6.2 as long as the aircraft complies with the new STC. Software upgrades are free from Aspen, but dealer installation charges may apply. Since receiving its Federal Aviation Administration STC-AML in 2008, Aspen Avionics has installed thousands of Evolution displays in general aviation aircraft, indicating an exceptional demand for an affordable glass cockpit solution.
