News From Paris: PW4000 Engines Awarded Contracts

Deals Valued At Up To $235 Million

Announced at the Paris Air Show Friday, both Guggenheim Aviation Partners and Air Caraibes ordered PW4000-100 engines to power up to four new A330 freighter aircraft and two new A330-300 aircraft, respectively. The deals are valued up to $235 million together, according to the two companies.

Engine deliveries for Guggenheim are scheduled to begin in 2010 and aircraft deliveries for Air Caraibes will begin in 2008.

"Having previously purchased Pratt & Whitney-powered B747-400, 767 and MD11 aircraft, we are delighted to now include the PW4170 on our new A330-200 Freighter aircraft," said Managing Director Paul Newrick, Guggenheim Aviation Partners.

"We are excited to bring the improved economics of the Advantage70 technology upgrade to our airline lease customers."

Said Jean-Paul Dubreuil, CEO of Air Caraibes "We are delighted to have the performance, fuel efficiency, and low emissions of the PW4000 on our new A330-200 aircraft. We are excited to bring the improved economics and environmental performance of the Advantage(TM) technology upgrade as we expand our wide-body fleet."

Air Caraibes serves the French Caribbean, Guadeloup, and Martinique from Paris-Orly Airport with a fleet of modern A330 aircraft also powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines. The airline offers connections throughout the French Caribbean with its fleet of modern regional aircraft.

According to Todd Kallman, president of Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines, Guggenheim Aviation Partners and Air Caraibes join a growing list of PW4000-100 customers and "we are proud to power their new aircraft."

"With the additional thrust, environmental benefits and fuel efficiency offered by the Advantage technology upgrade, the PW4000 is especially well suited for the A330."

The Advantage technology upgrade brings enhanced engine performance, lower fuel consumption and emissions, increased durability and reduced maintenance costs.

Pratt & Whitney has over 17,000 aircraft engines installed with hundreds of airlines around the world. Additionally, Pratt & Whitney is a leading partner in two joint venture companies that manufacture commercial aircraft engines: International Aero Engines, which makes the V2500 for the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, and the Engine Alliance, whose GP7200 engine is FAR 33 certified for the new Airbus A380.

Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies, Corp.
