Prevision Wins AUVSI Startup Showdown

Prize Awarded To Startup Company Demonstrating Technological Innovation At XPONENTIAL 2019

PreVision, a New York-based developer of 3-D mapping systems, is the grand prize winner of this year’s Startup Showdown by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). The competition among five finalists of innovative unmanned technologies and applications was held last week at AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2019 in Chicago.

PreVision received an award package of goods and services valued at $35,000. The company was recognized for its Live Imagery Maps in Time (LIMIT) technology, which enables users to see the world live in 3-D from any angle or perspective. According to PreVision, for immediate situation awareness, LIMIT users gain prevision, or the ability to see in advance, to predict or forecast, and to understand or foreknow.

Judges were given 10-minute pitches from five finalists – Cuberg, Hionos, Horizon 31, Internest and PreVision – followed by a five-minute live question and answer session. Judging the competition were Buddy Arnheim, partner at Perkins Coie; Sean Murphy, senior engineer/UAS program director at T-Mobile; Beckett Jackson, investing director at Boeing HorizonX; Marco Rubin, senior investment director at the Center for Innovative Technology; and Betsy Ziegler, CEO at 1871.

The AUVSI Startup Showdown, powered by leading accelerator and investor Starburst, identifies up-and-coming, investment-worthy startups. The competition gives them a platform to share their innovations with investors and corporates looking to form profitable connections with the next generation of game-changers.

“Starburst is proud to partner with AUVSI,” said Van Espahbodi, Managing Partner of Starburst Accelerator. “XPONENTIAL is an incredible gathering of talent and opportunities. By applying our startup selection process and technology criteria to select the best emerging companies to pitch, we will shine a light on the most promising entrepreneurs making an impact on our sector.”

As the unmanned systems industry’s largest trade show and conference, XPONENTIAL offers a broad-based and balanced educational program brimming with cutting-edge content and inspirational insights, ranging from policy implications and technical challenges to use cases and best practices across vertical markets and everything in between. XPONENTIAL 2020 will take place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on May 4 to 7, 2020.
