Flight Training Outfit Granted Luftwaffe Contract
CAE GmbH has received a contract to provide ab initio flight training services to the German Air Force for a 7 year term, which includes an option for an additional 5 should they wish to continue. To accommodate the change, CAE will establish a new training facility at the Bremen airport to increase their throughput of Luftwaffe candidates.
CAE will primarily have responsibility over academic, simulator, and live flight training to around 40 students in the first year. Their fleet of Diamond DA-40 and DA-42 aircraft will provide experience and fulfill requirements for single and multi-engine training between the Bremen airport location and a sister site in Montpellier, France operated by partner Airways Aviation. CAE will carry over its previously established, approved training organization curriculum and previously employed instructors. Bremen is a prime location, say locals.
"Bremen has been a primary location of aviation and spaceflight industries right from their early beginnings,” said Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte. "Personally and on behalf of the Senate, we welcome CAE to Bremen and look forward to a long lasting and successful cooperation.” The CAE Bremen Training Center will build on that history and increase the activity of the local economy, bringing jobs for instructors, dispatchers, maintainers, and support staff for years to come.
“This contract is a great example of CAE leveraging its world-class pilot training expertise across both defense and civil aviation to provide an unparalleled solution for initial flight training,” said Dan Gelston, group president, defence & security, CAE. “We are excited to expand our initial pilot training offering with the German Air Force and continue CAE’s mission to support the safety and readiness of future aviators.”
