Sporty's Donates $50K to Boy Scouts of America Hurricane Relief Fund

Because of Sporty's commitment to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and Aviation Exploring, a $50,000 donation to the BSA's Hurricane Relief Fund has been made. This money will be used to help local councils that remain significantly impacted by this year's devastating hurricane season.

Another $50,000 is also to be donated to specific relief efforts for a total of $100,000.

The money will be used to fund housing and basic living necessities for Boy Scouts of America employees as well as addressing the business operation needs of councils. Local councils have also assisted in coordinating Scout camp properties for temporary housing needs.

Roy L. Williams, Chief Scout Executive, commented, "I continue to be in awe of the tremendous acts of service and kindness demonstrated by Scouting volunteers and professionals in the wake of these storms."

Hal Shevers, Sporty's Founder and Chairman, is an Eagle Scout who was instrumental in reviving Aviation Exploring within the Boy Scouts of America, including hosting an Aviation Exploring post at Sporty's.

Aviation Exploring, an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America, is a youth development program open to young women and men ages 14 through 20.
