Tango Tango Back Home Following Berlin ILA 2006

Work Underway On "White 3", Bf-109s

The folks at Legend Flyers and Air Assets told ANN Friday that after a spectacular showing at this year's Berlin Air Show, the group's Messerschmitt 262 replica "Tango Tango" is now safely back home in Manching, Germany, after an uneventful flight.

Well... uneventful, that is, for the team... but you can imagine the reaction from people who may have looked up and seen the WWII-era twinjet fighter flying overhead during its trip. After all, it isn't everyday an Me262 flies by... in fact, Tango Tango -- the second flying Me262 reproduction -- is the first Me262 to fly over Germany since the end of the war.

A video of one of Tango Tango's demonstration flights at Berlin is available at the Warbird Recovery website, at the FMI link below. You'll need a Google Player to see it, and an understanding of the German language wouldn't hurt (of course, if you're like us you're only looking -- and listening -- to the plane, anyway.)

As far as other projects at the Legend Flyers facility in Everett, WA, the crew reports that "White 3" -- its third Me262 replica -- is nearing engine integration, after being put on its gear for the first time at the end of April.

Another historic project now underway at Legend Flyers -- the rebuilding of two Messerschmitt Bf-109s -- also received a boost recently, as the tail section for one of the birds was delivered.
