NY Man Who Struck An Airplane With His Car Is Found Dead

Apparently Committed Suicide In His Upstate New York Home

It's the second such story we've reported in as many days, but this one ended tragically. A man who allegedly drove off the road, through and airport fence, and struck an airplane at Saratoga County Airport (5B2) in New York Saturday was found dead in his home by Sheriff's Deputies.

Multiple media sources including WRGB-TV in Albany, New York report that authorities found 42-year-old Kyle Towers of Porter Corners dead in his home, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says they had been searching for Towers in connection with the incident in which he lost control of his vehicle, eventually damaging a Piper Pawnee tow airplane owned by the Adirondack Soaring Club. The airplane was parked at the time of the accident.

Sheriff's Deputies said Tower's sister told them he admitted to her that he was the person driving the car, but when the arrived at his home to question him, they found he had apparently shot himself.

The event is similar to one in Sarasota, FL, Sunday in which an alleged drunk driver crashed through an airport fence, damaging two Cirrus SR22 airplanes. That driver was arrested and charged with DUI.

ANN has learned through a news tip that the Adirondack Soaring Club is currently seeking a new tow plane.
