Hoover Hall Of Honor To Be Located At ERAU Florida Campus

Hall Salutes Aviation's Legends Who Inspire Future Pilots

In an historic nod to honor aviation’s legends and inspire tomorrow’s pilots, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has been selected to become the home of The Bob Hoover Hall of Honor. Artifacts and memorabilia in the exhibit will illustrate historical achievements of the stars of the sky and Hoover’s world-renowned career as a test pilot, air show innovator, mentor, World War II combat aviator and Prisoner of War.

“The Hoover Hall of Honor will not only preserve the accomplishments of Bob and these individuals but also analyze and recognize the characteristics that fueled these incredible legends to be successful over a lifetime in aviation. It’s not just what they did, but how they did it. These attributes will be used to inspire future generations. That’s why this is important,” said Hoover Hall of Honor Spokesman Tom Poberezny. “Having Embry-Riddle be the home of this unique and emotional tribute is perfect. The goal is for Embry-Riddle students and graduates to live and share a similar code of commitment that Bob Hoover is recognized for around the globe.”

The Hall of Honor will be housed at the world’s largest aviation and aerospace university’s Florida campus. It will also include nine inductees researched and hand-selected by Hoover for their lifetime of achievements and contributions to aviation. These honorees will be introduced at a Hoover’s Heroes dinner hosted by Embry-Riddle on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles.

Eight Embry-Riddle students representing the university’s three campuses (Daytona Beach, FL, Prescott, AZ, and Worldwide) will attend a private lunch with Hoover and the Tribute hosts on Feb. 21 in Beverly Hills. Later that evening, they will head to Paramount Studios Theater for a star-studded tribute and premiere of a documentary about Hoover’s life narrated by actor and pilot Harrison Ford. Other aviation luminaries honoring Hoover’s legacy at the tribute include astronauts Jim Lovell and Gene Cernan, airshow sensation Sean Tucker, Southwest Airlines founder Herb Kelleher, and “Miracle on the Hudson” pilot Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger and others.

“Professionalism, integrity and honor are the cornerstones of Embry-Riddle’s culture. It is what we strive to instill in every student while they are here and as they move forward in life. Bob Hoover exemplifies this,” said Embry-Riddle President Dr. John P. Johnson. “We are proud to be part of aviation’s salute to its legends and home to the future leaders they inspire.”
