Rubio Campaign Staffer Finds Frontier Lacking

But Low-Cost Carrier Is Helping Money-Conscious Candidate Economize

The end goal is to fly on Air Force One, but to get there, candidates have to spend a lot of time traveling around the nation. While some can afford private jets, others fly commercial.

Such is the case with the Marco Rubio campaign. And, the Florida Senator has spent a portion of his travel budget with Frontier Airlines ... much to the dismay of some of his staffers.

Fox News reports that campaign manager Terry Sullivan called flying on the low-cost airline "a special kind of hell." His remarks came at an event for 2016 campaign managers put on by National Review at Google's headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Sullivan did not elaborate on why he had such a low opinion of the airline. He did say that the candidate flies commercial about 95 percent of the time because "we want to spend our money where it matters." The other 5 percent is on private aircraft.

Frontier President Barry Biffle told Fox News that while he admits that the airline has some work to do on addressing consumer complaints, it is making progress. On time departures are improving, and the cancellation rate has been cut dramatically. "We're running a great airline. And we've got some of the best prices in the industry, so I am not really shocked that Rubio is using us."
