Passenger Stops Assault, Apparent Suicide Attempt On Flight

Woman Now Undergoing Psychiatric Evaluation

Another case of a passenger acting badly. Horizon Air Flight 2412 from Seattle to Billings, MT Saturday night started out fine, as flights generally do, when a female passenger became violent and yelling everyone on the flight was going to "die."

She then assaulted a flight attendant before running for the exit door.

Passenger Scott Handlin jumped to the rescue and physically restrained the woman who, he said, appeared to be under the effect of some sort of hallucinogenic drug.

Handlin and another male passenger kept the woman restrained as the pilot circled back to the Port of Seattle Airport for an emergency landing. She was promptly arrested at the gate.

Horizon Airlines confirmed the incident, according to KTVQ Billings.

The situation could have been much worse, Handlin said. "I actually was seated three seats back, but moved to the front for more leg room. The flight attendant thanked me for moving up."

The flight attendant reportedly received minor injuries from the attack.

The woman is 22 years-old and is reportedly undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at Harbor View Hospital in Seattle.

Despite the ruckus, the flight arrived in Billings just one hour behind schedule.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations is looking into the incident.
