Amelia Earhart Gloves For Sale On eBay

Signed Pair From 1935 Mexico Flight

A pair of gloves reportedly worn and signed by Amelia Earhart popped up on eBay recently, at last check the high bid was $5,999.

The website whatsellsbest.com reports that the gloves were worn by Earhart and signed after her 1935 "Goodwill Solo Flight" to Mexico during which Earhart had to make a precautionary landing because a bug in the cockpit became lodged in her eye, causing her to have difficulty seeing the chart she was using for navigation. She eventually landed "near Estación Nopala, Hidalgo, where rancheros pointed the way to Mexico City," according to the sellers of the gloves.

The gloves do have documentation to back up the signature. The auction was scheduled to end just after 2000 EDT Monday.
