Aircraft Suitable For A Variety Of Commercial And Military Missions
Kaman Aerospace Group has been soliciting interest in new K-MAX orders at HELI-EXPO 2014 in Anaheim, CA.
The K-MAX received its FAA certification twenty years ago in 1994. The aircraft is utilized for commercial applications in many countries around the world and, since 2011; it has been operating in Afghanistan with the U.S. Marine Corps in an unmanned configuration with impressive vertical lift capabilities. Designed to perform repetitive external lifting, the K-MAX performs that mission better than any other helicopter in the world. The single-engine, single-seat K-MAX is a rugged workhorse, and no helicopter works harder or more efficiently.
“We regularly receive inquiries from operators interested in buying new K-MAX aircraft for a variety of missions across the world. With more than 20,000 industry professionals in attendance from around the globe, there is no better place to solicit interest in new aircraft than Heli-Expo,” stated Jim Larwood, President of Kaman Aerosystems. “There is clearly demand for new aircraft to support firefighting, logging or any industry requiring repetitive aerial lift capabilities, and the K-MAX is extremely well suited for all of these industrial applications. We have developed plans to reopen production for potential military programs. However, if we can establish sufficient firm commitments from commercial customers now, we are prepared to seek approval from our Board to reopen the line.”
Kaman says the K-MAX medium-lift helicopter is well suited for lifting operations in austere environments, including helicopter logging, power line construction, ski-lift installations, and logistical support for remote construction sites. With K-MAX's quiet rotor system and resulting low downwash, it also plays a critical role in emergency response.
