Drone Rescue Systems Joins Forces With Auterion To Provide A Unified Front In Autonomous Safety Systems for Commercial Drones
Auterion, through its software platform, seeks to integrate drones into business systems by providing an ecosystem of connected assets, payloads, and applications in an easy-to-use-platform based on open-source standards.
Doing so loosens the restrictive proprietary infrastructure to provide choice, flexibility, and, most importantly, integration. The merger with Drone Recovery Systems (DRS) offers an additional level of operating service, specifically the autonomous parachute system in case of an airborne malfunction, which can be electrically triggered and deployed within milliseconds!
The DRS combines an autonomous parachute system with emergency Blackbox and data storage that is lightweight, requiring no ballistic (igniter/rocket) activation mechanism to deploy. The DRS units are named for either the upper MTOW (in kg) or drone model they can support.
Yes, DRS originated in Austria, so you’ll see references to metric units of measure!
Hence a DRS-10 has a weight range of 5-10kg (11 to 22lbs) and weighs 10oz which we’re sure you’ll factor into your calculations! Subsequently, the DRS-M600 is easily recognized as the recovery system for the DJI Matrice 600/Pro drone!
Auterion claims to power any type of autonomous vehicle, whether multirotor, fixed-wing, VTOL, or ground vehicles. Auterion encourages developers and manufacturers to leverage their software platform by developing their functionality atop Auterion. Interestingly, Auterion’s code of ethics appears to shelter under the umbrella of “do no harm”; they only work in areas that benefit society and will not develop weaponized technologies!
