Expected To Deliver 'Maximum Results In Terms Of Appearance And Protection...'
Sherwin-Williams is introducing a new universal clearcoat: Aerospace Clearcoat (CM0ACC201).
Reported to be a high-gloss, durable product, it is expected to deliver 'maximum results in terms of appearance and protection and also provides versatile application options, from flexible wet edge times to fast repairs.'
Aerospace Clearcoat can be used over all Sherwin-Williams basecoats (such as SKYscapes basecoats, Jet Glo Express and Acry Glo), as well as over properly prepared dry topcoat systems (such as Acry Glo products). It’s capable of handling a variety of aircraft sizes and types and provides simple, quick repairs with the Accelerator (CMO8181HJR).
To aid in versatility and productivity, Aerospace Clearcoat can be customized to different wet edge and curing times, depending on the project’s environmental conditions or required dry times. There are three reducer options that can be mixed using a 3:1:1 ratio:
- Slow Speed Activator (CM0ACA203)
- Medium Speed Activator (CM0ACA205)
- Fast Speed Activator (CM0ACA207)
“This is one product that does it all, from small repairs to large aircraft,” said Richard Giles, Global Technical Services and Training Manager for Sherwin-Williams. “It gives our customers a lot of options for how they apply and use it. It has all these versatile characteristics and yet it is aesthetically top notch.”
With its flow and leveling properties, Aerospace Clearcoat is repotedly easy to apply, using conventional air spray, HVLP gravity or siphon, electrostatic airspray, or air-assisted airless equipment. It should be sprayed in two to three wet singular or cross coats to full hide, allowing each coat to flash off. It can build to a dry film thickness of 2.0-2.5 mils.
