C-47 Tico Belle Participates In Hurricane Dorian Relief

Vintage Aircraft Carries Supplies To Devastated Islands In The Bahamas

An airplane that once carried paratroopers into France on D-Day has taken a role in providing humanitarian relief to the hurricane-ravaged islands of the Bahamas in the wake of Dorian.

Tico Belle, a C-47 Skytrain owned by the Valiant Air Command based in Titusville, FL flew to Orlando International Airport on Saturday to pick up about 5,000 pounds of much-needed supplies, and then carried the cargo to Sandy Point on Great Abaco Island, according to a report from Florida Today.

Norman Daniels, commander of the Valiant Air Command, said that the aircraft was viable, and "we have volunteer pilots who are willing to make the trip."

Tico Belle is joining Brevard County, FL's, Relief for the Bahamas coalition which includes the Florida Institute of Technology, ABC Supply of Central Florida, the Brevard County Clerk's Office and dozens of business partners.
