Security Video Shows A Cooperative Rand Paul

Security Camera Evidence Seems To Refute 'Irate' Description

Security camera video from Nashville International Airport (KBNA) appears to refute a description from local police that U.S. Senator Rand Paul became "irate" when he was detained by TSA. Instead, the video shows the Senator waiting patiently in the glass cubicle area until he is interviewed by authorities.

Paul (pictured), who is the son of Texas Congressman and Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul, was traveling from Nashville to Washington, D.C. Monday when the body scanner in use at the airport indicated something near his knee. Paul declined a pat-down search, which led to the Senator's detention by TSA.

The incident led Presidential candidate Paul to call for the abolishment of TSA, calling the agency part of a "Police State," according to USA Today.

But according to The Tennessean, police were called to deal with a passenger who was "irate." The video posted on the paper's website seems to tell a different story. Senator Paul is shown waiting apparently patiently for someone to come talk to him. However, there is no audio, and the video has been edited down to about a minute.

The TSA and Airport Authority declined further comment. A TSA spokesman said protocol is to call in local law enforcement when a passenger "refuses to complete the screening process."

Paul missed his plane, but was able to book a later flight to D.C., and board without incident.
