US F-15E, A-10 Down

Search Is On For Missing F-15 Crew

Two Coalition airmen are missing after their F-15E Strike Eagle went down in Iraq approximately 7:30 p.m. EDT Sunday. The airmen and their aircraft were forward deployed from the 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (NC).

The cause of the incident is unknown at this time and is being investigated, according to a statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM).

A-10 Shot Out Of The Sky

Pentagon officials also say an American A-10 "Warthog" was shot down by an Iraqi surface-to-air missile Tuesday near Baghdad. The pilot ejected safely and was recovered by coalition forces.

More explosions were heard after nightfall although reporters said the city seemed quieter than it has been. The electricity was out again and there was little traffic on the streets. Iraqi domestic television has been off the air since mid-morning.
