ATG Goes With Op Technologies For Javelin Avionics

Aviation Technology Group (ATG) told ANN Tuesday it selected Op Technologies as the primary avionics system supplier for its Javelin tandem jet.

The Op Technologies avionics package for the Javelin includes the Integrated Display System (IDS) and a Multifunction Control and Display Unit (MCDU). The entire avionics package is conveniently grouped on the instrument panel to promote head-up operation and reduce pilot workload.

"We are very enthusiastic to have Op Technologies join our team," said Charlie Johnson, president of ATG. "They have a proven management team and are very familiar with systems management and integration. Their innovative attitude fits well with ATG’s goals."

The IDS consists of three 5x7 portrait display units in both the forward and aft cockpits. The individual displays function as a primary flight display (PFD), a multifunction display (MFD), and an Engine Instrument and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) with system synoptic pages specifically designed for the Javelin.

Options are available to arrange any of the three functions on any display unit.

The MCDU, located in the top center of the instrument panel, provides full functional control of the Flight Management System (FMS), autoflight, and navigation-communication equipment. The MCDU incorporates intuitive and easily accessible controls, accentuated by a full-color display window.

Javelin says the MCDU location and layout also allows for quicker and easier access to several functions, including frequency changes and flight plan edits.

Primary communications and navigation equipment, also provided by Op Technologies and their strategic partner Sandia Aerospace, includes dual VHF communications transceivers; dual VOR, localizer, and glide slope receivers; dual WAAS/GPS receivers; and a Mode S transponder.

“ATG has put together a talented team and developed a unique and exciting airplane. The sprit of the team fits well with ours and we are excited to join the Javelin program,” said Dexter Turner, president of Op Technologies.

Incorporated in 2000, ATG is dedicated to the design, development and production of the Javelin executive jet and its derivatives for government markets. Initial customer deliveries of the Javelin are slated for 2008.
