Introducing the NEW "WACO Jet" WJ-1
ANN April 1st Special Edition:
WACO Classic has identified yet another under-represented market
niche ... the Tri-Engine, 3 place- Hybrid Jet biplane market. The
company says the segment has been totally ignored by companies
like Eclipse, Adam, ViperJet , Epic and others, and WACO
Classic is now well positioned to exploit this market, leveraging
it vast experience with tube and fabric airplanes and advanced
avionics.
The three-engine non-pressurized WACO Jet WJ-1 will redefine the
performance envelope in the VLJ category. The WJ-1 can take off
with full fuel and all three seats occupied in less then 100 feet
of runway, then climb into the flight levels and cruise at up to
215 mph (Vne). The certified ceiling on the Williams powered Waco
Jet WJ-1 is expected to be 32,000' with an IFR range of 200 nm with
optional long range tanks, but why anyone would what to fly that
high as there is nothing to see up there. The Selection of
the 1,800 lb (8,000 N) static thrust Williams engines will allow
fighter jet like climb rates in excess of 14,000 fpm, yet offer
fantastic economy. "She climbs like a banshee," said a WACO Classic
engineer. "We had to develop special dope to keep the fabric on the
airplane at high-speed cruise, and protect it from the jet
exhaust. But once we got over that hurdle, we were
golden."
Certification of the WACO Jet VLJ
is expected in the 2nd half of
2012. Pre-orders are being accepted now that will lock in a
purchase price of $995,000.
