EAA and FAA Meet in Oshkosh for 16th Winter Summit

EAA Maintains 'Collaborative' Relationship Despite Recent FAA Mis-Steps

Despite recent FAA mis-steps, the EAA is maintaining its strategies in dealing with the FAA.

This, despite such issues as the FAA's recent refusal to agree to EAA's request for an extension to the time-limited deadline for the Remote ID proposal (which has ponderous implications for all of aviation... manned and unmanned), as well as various certification bottlenecks brought on by all the political pressure over the B737Max mess (more the blame of our shoot-first and ask questions later political climate), the EAA is maintaining their plan to collaborate and cooperate, where possible, with the FAA.

EAA welcomed high-level FAA staff to Oshkosh this week for the 16th annual EAA/FAA Recreational Aviation Summit, also known as the Winter Summit, to discuss regulatory issues affecting general aviation and major policy initiatives.

FAA staff from departments including Flight Standards, Aircraft Certification, and Accident Investigation and Prevention were at the EAA Aviation Center on Tuesday and Wednesday for comprehensive meetings on a variety of crucial, "big picture" policy topics.

In advocating on behalf of members, EAA notes that it, 'has always sought to have a collaborative, productive relationship with the FAA, and the Winter Summit is one of the best examples of this relationship in action. EAA's advocacy will continue in various meetings in Washington, D.C., and at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2020.'
