Diamond Ships Special Mission DA62s to Nigeria

MPP Aircraft Find Another Welcoming Home Down South

Diamond Aircraft publicized a welcoming ceremony for two Nigerian DA62 MPP aircraft, showing off an eager NAF reception for the new planes.

The Nigerian Air Force now sports 4 aircraft, each equipped with Diamond's "cutting-edge electro-optical systems". The MPP package provides a series of light, compact sensors that make for a cost-effective, versatile ISR platform. The MPP's twin engine reliability doesn't imply a high fuel burn, with all 1,264 nm of its max range unwinding to the tune of 7.4 gallons per hour. Add in a 126-knot cruise and seating for 4 and it makes sense why cash-strapped operators love the DA62 MPP as an achievable eye in the sky.

Lead time on the MPPs delivered so far is about 2 years, at least in Nigeria's case. The final pair of aircraft was delivered this month, with the first and second handed over in February and July this year. With all 4 under their roof, Nigeria is now ready for action, snooping, and intelligence, whenever they need it.

David Fasching, Sales Manager Africa, Special Mission Aircraft Division at Diamond Aircraft Austria, was happy to see the sale go through. "Diamond Aircraft is honored to contribute to the Nigerian Air Force's capabilities with the delivery of the DA62 MPP Special Mission Aircraft. This successful collaboration reflects our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions for surveillance missions in Africa. We are confident that the DA62 MPP's advanced features will significantly enhance the NAF's operational effectiveness."

"As the sales representative for Diamond´s Special Mission Aircraft Solutions in Nigeria, I am proud to witness the successful delivery of the DA62 MPP Special Mission Aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force," said Shakiru Olayinka. "This milestone reflects our dedication to providing the NAF with top-tier solutions for their evolving operational needs. We are excited about the positive impact these aircraft will have on Nigeria's security efforts."
