ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, attended NBAA2015 to provide knowledgeable reporting about the business end of aviation, but when he had the chance to talk with Jack Pelton, the new CEO of the Experimental Aircraft Association, he shifted gears and talked with Pelton about EAA.
Jim brings up the obvious fact that the EAA was transitioning from a family run business to something else when Jack Pelton was brought in to try to pull the whole package together. Pelton said that the early-on the primary concern was to stabilize what EAA already had.
Now, he says, they’re working on growing the organization and defining the way that growth will occur. As the video progresses, Jim and Pelton discuss the many issues that EAA is facing. Pelton talks about the Board of Directors and his relationship with the board, and their relationship with other members of the EAA staff.
He also discusses the issues of demographics, which is another way to say that EAA members are aging and fresh blood as needed. Pelton talks about the challenges and proposes some resolutions to help build and maintain EAA as a viable organization to speak for recreational aviation. This is a great video in that it’s like having a personal conversation with Jack as he talks about the things that affect all of us who want to see recreational aviation thrive.
