Third Body Recovered In Roseville Accident

Two On Plane, One In House Killed

A total of three bodies have been recovered from the site of Sunday's tragedy in Roseville, CA, where a small homebuilt aircraft crashed into a home.

Initial reports of fatalities ranged from one person killed in the accident, to four. Sadly, it appears the total will be closer to the latter, as authorities confirmed Monday night that three bodies have been recovered from the site.

Two of the bodies "were associated with the airplane," said Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther. The third victim was presumably in the home when the accident occurred.

Roseville police are continuing their efforts to find an 18-year-old man who witnesses said was inside the house when the accident occurred. The man's family was reportedly out-of-town this weekend, although he did not go with them. The third body recovered was not that of the 18-year-old, said Gunther.

Also on Monday, the FAA has released its Preliminary Report in the accident.

FAA Spokesman Mike Fergus told the Sacramento Bee the 1996 Glasair II (file photo of type, above,) registered N540FT, departed Lincoln Airport, 10 miles north of Roseville, on Sunday morning. It impacted the home shortly before 11:30 am.

The aircraft is registered to Patrick O'Brien, who appears to have purchased the aircraft in November 2005. However, it is unclear if he is one of the victims.

On Monday, Roseville firefighters worked with the FAA "to pull the wreckage out of the house, stabilizing the house so it's safe to go inside," said Roseville Fire Marshal Dennis Mathisen.

The NTSB will soon be taking over the investigation, with a Preliminary Report from that agency expected next week.
