Innovative Solutions & Support Granted STC For PC-12 Glass Cockpit Installation

A Touch Of Glass For One Classy Turboprop

Exton, PA-based avionics supplier Innovative Solutions & Support Inc. told ANN Monday the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for its 10" Cockpit/IP Flat Panel Display System in the Pilatus PC-12.

Representatives with IS&S state the Cockpit/IP Flat Panel Display System significantly improves flight safety and security, streamlines vital in-flight information, and offers PC-12 pilots, passengers, and owners 'Part 25' performance capabilities at less than 'Part 23' costs.

Installation of the 10" displays is available through IS&S partners, Western Aircraft and Epps Aviation, who specialize in Pilatus aircraft avionics modifications and maintenance.

"Along with offering the highest level of certified performance, improved situational awareness, and flight data presentation, IS&S and its installation partners have designed an approach to flat panel upgrades that significantly minimizes the cost and downtime typically required for retrofits, allowing owners to return their aircraft to revenue-generating service in under four days," says Roman Ptakowski, President of IS&S.

"On the safety front, we also offer optional installation of electronic flight bag features such as runway, approach, and in route charts providing pilots real-time, GPS-referenced location data both on the ground and in the air. This is a critical navigational feature highlighted in the aftermath of recent tragedies."

The Cockpit/IP Flat Panel Display System (shown at top in a Boeing 767) presents other situational data such as TCAS, TAWS, and RVSM, as well as critical Primary Flight information -attitude direction indication (ADI), horizontal situation indication (HSI), altimeter, airspeed, vertical speed, and radio magnetic indication.

IS&S flat panel displays also accept and present typical navigation sources, including DME, ADF, VOR, GPS, and FMS. In addition, IS&S's proprietary glass cockpit operating system is powered by redundant dual-processors that continuously ensure system reliability and the integrity of data presented to the pilot. The IS&S patented Integrity Checking Processor makes certain all critical functions are validated to standards required for Part 25 aircraft further increasing the PC-12's security and safety.

An additional capability attracting great customer interest is a 'Zoom' feature that magnifies pilot-selected settings, making them larger and easier to read. It is the same "Zoom" feature utilized in improving readability on the Class III EFB.
