Pilot Walks Away From Riverbed Forced Landing

Cessna 140 Went Down Near Santa Paula, California

A woman flying a mid-1940's era Cessna 140 escaped major injuries when the aircraft went down after reportedly losing power shortly after takeoff from Santa Paula airport in California September 16th.

The Santa Paula Times reports that the search for the aircraft was hampered by tall brush in the area where the plane went down, but a Ventura County Police helicopter was able to quickly locate the plane. It reportedly flipped over when it impacted the ground near the 12th street bridge close to the airport.

The pilot, who lives in nearby Ventura, CA, declined medical treatment at the scene. She appeared to suffer only minor injuries.
