Skydiving Santa Winds Up With A Broken Leg After Landing Goes Awry

Was Taking A Gift To A 9-Year-Old Girl

We're not exactly sure why Santa would have bailed out of his sleigh to make a delivery, but the Jolly Old Elf may have been better off making a more normal landing. He might have avoided a broken leg.

The Associated Press reports that George Krokus donned a Santa Claus suit to skydive onto the beach to deliver toys during the Tampa Bay (FL) Beach Bums Charity Volleyball Tournament. One gift in particular was for 9-year-old Madison Spiers ... an "Elf on a Shelf".

But rather than a graceful landing on the sandy beach, Krokus ran into a tree and then a light pole before literally hitting the beach, and wound up with a broken leg for his efforts.

Spiers saw the accident, but later found a note from the "elf" named Kristoff. The note explained that as he and Santa were about to land "this big tree jumped right out in front of us."

Krokus/Santa is reportedly recovering.
