Real Bucks For Sims: Frasca Announces Mentor Sales

Frasca International has received orders for four new Mentor devices. Two of the devices have been delivered, one to Garmin, the manufacturer of G1000 integrated avionics and one to Avidyne, makers of Entegra integrated avionics. Additional devices will go to Vectair, a charter service operating out of Tunica Airport in MS and Utah Valley State College, Orem. Several additional Mentor sales are in negotiation.

The Mentor which was launched by Frasca earlier this year, is a simulator capable of training pilots to fly integrated avionics systems such as the new Garmin G1000 or Avidyne’s Entegra as well as conventional instrumentation without investing in more advanced FTDs. While compact in size, the Mentor is a high quality simulator with an extensive features list and uses much of the same technology as Frasca’s higher level FTDs and FFSs.

According to John Frasca, Vice President of Frasca International, “We developed the Mentor as a Part Task Trainer to support the new generation of integrated avionics such as the Garmin G1000.  We felt that a part task trainer could be of value to the training industry.  As the project matured it became apparent that the Mentor was a very capable Flight Simulator.  We now see that the Mentor can fill a wide range of training requirements and as result are extending the Mentor product line to include conventional instrumentation. “

For smaller schools, the Mentor can serve as the schools only simulator and will provide high quality simulation for flight training.  Larger schools will find the Mentor performs best as Part Task Trainer complimenting Frasca's TruFlite and Level 6 Flight Training devices.  Such schools would use a mix of devices, Mentors for navigation training, the TruFlite for aircraft familiarization, VFR training, and more, and Level 6 FTD's which allow schools to expand simulator credit under part 142.

The Frasca Mentor includes an FAA approved flight data package, Jeppeson Nav data, full size flight controls including rudder pedals and brakes, conventional instrumentation or Avidyne Entegra or Garmin G1000, Graphical Instructors Station (GISt), multi-channel sound simulation, and TruVision visual system.

Frasca International, Urbana, Illinois, manufactures flight training equipment for airlines, flight schools, Universities and military organizations worldwide. Product range includes Flight Training Devices (FTDs), FNPT I, II and IIMCC devices, CPTs, Full Flight Simulators (FFS) and more for all aircraft types, fixed wing and rotary. Frasca has delivered over 2000 devices to some 70 countries since the companies founding in 1958.
