Hawker Beechcraft Services Announces Availability Of Broadband Internet

Aircell High Speed Internet And SwiftBroadband Make The Plane Like The Office

Hawker Beechcraft Services (HBS) announced Monday that it is taking orders for Aircell High Speed Internet and SwiftBroadband connectivity in Hawker 900XP, 850XP, 750 and Pro Line 21 equipped 800XP business jets that will provide passengers with e-mail and Internet access on board the aircraft. The upgrade permits passengers with Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and laptop computers, to send and receive e-mails, surf the web, watch streaming video or access a corporate Virtual Private Network (VPN) to download files, just like they would in an office or Internet site on the ground.

“The availability of Internet access in flight further enhances the on-board experience for Hawker passengers and allows them to maintain communication and productivity while they are airborne,” said Christi Tannahill, vice president, Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Service and Support. “We are delighted to provide this highly desired technology to the aftermarket.”

Compatible with Aircell’s Axxess cabin system, the total weight of the hardware, including line replaceable units (LRUs) and antennas, is slightly more than 12 pounds. Installation time is minimal and provides existing Hawker owners with Aircell High Speed Internet for North American access or Aircell SwiftBroadband for international access, the same capability to be found in new Hawker aircraft in 2010. Certification is expected before the end of the year. Monthly data usage charges are applicable.
