Gone West: RAF Director Reade Genzlinger

Fatally Injured In An Aircraft Accident Monday

The Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) is deeply saddened to report that RAF Director, and friend Reade Genzlinger was fatally injured in an aircraft accident near the Alpine, Wyoming airport on January 4th.

Reade’s passenger, 17 year-old Mackenzie Ruston, perished also. Mackenzie Ruston’s father Mark, is also an RAF supporter and friend. Our hearts go out to the Genzlinger and Ruston families.

Reade joined the RAF board in July of 2012 and served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the foundation. He had long been associated with aviation and philanthropic work, primarily in the Philadelphia area. He brought financial management expertise to the RAF along with his deep love of aviation. He leaves behind his wife Lynn, five children and their families.

Services are planned for Sunday, January 10 at Bryn Athyn Cathedral, in Genzlinger’s home state of Pennsylvania. Special music begins at 4 p.m. and service at 4:30 p.m. EST.

In lieu of flowers, Lynn and the family suggest memorials to the RAF honoring Reade’s passion for its mission, and “his gratitude for the wonderful friends he’d made through his work there,” she added.

"We wish to assure her the feeling was mutual," the RAF said in a statement emailed to the aviation media. "He will be greatly missed. RAF Arkansas Liaison Dave Myrick expressed our shared feelings by writing, 'the fact he was doing something he loved so much does not make the loss any easier. We are a family and that in itself makes this news even more striking and personal.'"
