Airborne 06.25.18: Privatization War Continues, NEW Sling TSi, Air Tattoo

Also: Xodiac Rocket, Delta Private Jets, Jet East Aviation, NASA’s Janet Petro

If you thought the ATC Privatization was was over, you were mistaken. Six associations representing the general aviation industry have issued a statement strongly opposing the Trump Administration for including in its government reorganization proposal a failed idea to privatize the FAA's air traffic control services.

“There is a large and diverse chorus of opposition to the idea of privatizing our air traffic control system, including congressional leaders from both political parties, more than 100 aviation organizations, over 100 business leaders, 100 U.S. mayors, consumer and agricultural groups, conservative think tanks, and the majority of Americans. Additionally, this concept has been fully considered in the U.S. Congress and rejected despite years of repeated attempts,” said the letter signed by GAMA, NBAA, AOPA, EAA, HAI and NATA... The eagerly anticipated Sling TSi test article recently made its public debut in South Africa and will be unveiled at the upcoming EAA Airventure next month. The Sling TSi’s name is a homage to its Rotax 915 iS engine. Compared to previous models it has increased speed, increased rate of climb, longer range, increased carrying capacity, more space and greater comfort all while flying the best-handling aircraft in its class. One of the biggest public demonstrations of RAF air and ground capability will be on display at this summer’s Royal International Air Tattoo as part of international celebrations marking the Royal Air Force centenary. Fast jets, transports, surveillance and training aircraft will be joined by warbirds from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight as the airshow showcases the Royal Air Force’s past, present and future. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
