Separate Pakistan Air Force Incidents Kill 2, Injure 1

Investigations Underway

A Pakistani Air Force (PAF) pilot and a civilian were killed while another sustained severe injuries after two PAF aircraft went down on the same day in the same general area.

In the first incident, an A-5 fighter (top, right) impacted the ground near the Pakistani town of Pindi Gheb. The pilot of the aircraft was able to eject, but was injured in the process. There are no details on the cause of the incident, although Pakistani reports indicate there was no loss of civilian life or property.

In the second incident a Mushak light trainer, a co-project of the Pakistani and Swedish governments, crashed near Tangi, Pakistan. The instructor pilot, Flight Lieutenant Tauseef Ahmed, was killed when the aircraft went down, while Pilot Aviation Cadet Naveed sustained minor injuries. A farmer working in his field, was also killed in the impact.

Boards of inquiry have been ordered by air headquarters to determine the causes of both accidents.
