Developers Of A VTOL Jet For Civil And Government
Applications
Morgan Aircraft LLC, which has developed what it says is the
world's first Civil VTOL Jet, has announced that it has been chosen
as one of only 7 innovative companies invited to give presentations
at the EAA AirVenture Fly-In on July 27th. The venue will be the
2nd Annual "AeroInnovate Pitch & Mingle" event, held in the
Founders Wing of the EAA Museum at 1830. The presentation will be
given by Morgan's co-founders, Brian Morgan, President, and Mark
O'Halloran, CEO. This presentation marks the fifth anniversary of
the company, which was founded after its first subscale
demonstrations at AirVenture 2005.
"We will be reporting on the progress made over the last five
years of rigorous engineering, computer modeling by three
independent laboratories, and flight testing 10 subscale
prototypes," said Brian Morgan. "Since the formation of Morgan
Aircraft in 2005, we have spent $7 million verifying that the
technology has caught up to the concept of a VTOL Civil Jet which
can take travelers door-to-door, requiring only a 50-foot clearing
to safely land and take off," added Mark O'Halloran, CEO of the
advancing aviation concern.
"In November of 2009, our second patent was issued for
additional methods of aircraft attitude control. This broadened the
coverage of our initial patent issued in January 2005 which
detailed the aero-mechanical configuration of our Extremely
Maneuverable Jet (EM-J). This additional patent protection allows
us to finally tell the public about the advances we have been
making behind closed doors for the last 5 years.", said Dan Wright,
Director of Operations.
Morgan has teamed with CAE Associates to perform an independent
Computational Fluid Dynamics study as part of Morgan's overall
Technical Validation Process, which is 80% complete. The
presentation will include photos and video of many of the ten
subscale prototypes which were flown to study the aerodynamics of
this unique configuration.
