Wichita Gets Its Aviation Festival Back

...And Even Adds Another Day

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the Aviation Festival is returning to Wichita (KS).

In fact, the show, which had been scheduled for September 25-26 has been expanded. KC and the Sunshine Band ("That's the Way I Like It") will perform at Jabara Airport on Friday, September 24th.

Wichita leaders say they want to build on the success of last year's show in a city known for its deep roots in general and business aviation. The show will include a night-time performance by the Pepsi Aerial Entertainers -- an act city marketing leader Jessica Johnson says was a big hit last year.

"A lot of people got really excited with that event," she says.

The Canadian Snowbirds will headline the show as part of their 34th season. And unlike last year, show organizers hope the weather will cooperate. The 2003 Aviation Festival was cut short by storms.
