Bob Miller Flight Training Re-Vamps PPL/Refresher
Curriculum
Bob Miller Flight Training - Online will be conducting a totally
revamped 8-Week Private Pilot/Refresher Webinar Course beginning on
Tuesday, March 20 and will run every Tuesday evening from 7pm to
9pm EST through May 8, 2012. This course is ideally suited for the
private pilot student as well as for veteran pilots looking to get
ready for a flight review or who simply want to get back up to
speed.

Course Outline:
Week 1 Documents and Certificates: Proof that
aircraft and pilots are both safe and legal to fly is found in the
various documents and certificates acceptable to the FAA. Pilot
qualifications and currency, required aircraft instruments and
equipment, as well as scheduled aircraft inspections form the basis
of week 1 of this course.
Week 2 Aerodynamics and Aircraft Performance:
Understanding what makes airplanes fly, principles of thrust,
weight, lift, and drag, turning tendencies, G-loading, unusual
flight attitudes including stalls and spins, weight and balance,
and related aircraft performance are detailed in this session.
Week 3 Aircraft Systems: Unlocking the
complexities of the numerous systems incorporated in today's
technologically advanced aircraft is a basic requirement of every
pilot. Systems covered include the engine, electrical, control,
Pitot-static, vacuum, attitude-heading reference (AHRS), and
air-data (ADC).
Week 4 Aviation Weather: There is no other
variable in aviation as perverse as the weather and no other risk
factor plays as great a role in the outcome of every flight as the
environment in which we fly. Understanding the forces that create
the weather is as important as the myriad of reports we have to
predict the weather, all of which are covered in this session.
Week 5 The National Airspace System: Today's
national airspace system is the result of over 65 years of
negotiation between the FAA and users of the system. Each component
of this system possesses differing operating rules, weather
requirements, and communications procedures.
Week 6 Federal Aviation Regulations: Airline
pilots were recently surveyed about risk factors they incur during
every flight. The number one reported risk factor was "getting from
point A to point B without a violation! There are literally
thousands of rules that impact every flight operations. Knowing why
these rules are required and having a convenient way to recall
these rules forms the essence of this session.
Week 7 Aeromedical Factors: The old saying
applies, "If man were meant to fly, he would have been born with
wings!" In this regard, flying does involve an artificial
environment that often interferes with our body's brain, balancing
mechanisms, visual perceptions, and oxygen requirements. We will
examine these mechanisms as they apply to flight.
Week 8 Cross- Country Planning: Ultimately,
flying means traveling quickly from one place to another. How we do
this without getting lost, how long it takes, how much fuel is
required, and what happens if our destination airport suddenly
closes is the topic of this final session of the course. Included
is the world of TFRs (temporary flight rules), notams (notices to
airmen), SFRAs (special flight rules areas), and national security
issues.
All you need is a computer with a reasonably fast internet
connection and an internal speaker or headset. We will send
you easy-to-understand log in instructions. Then, several
minutes before each scheduled session, simply log in to the
internet site we send you, then sit back and enjoy! The first
session is free! Just in case you are not familiar with
webinar technology and would like to give it a try, we're offering
Session 1 absolutely free. Simply follow the link below to
register without cost or obligation. The cost to continue the
course is $149.
