AMA Drone Report 10.31.19: Mavic Mini Intro!, AMA Expo West, New Regs

Also: Sub Resupplied By Drone, World Series Restrictions, UAVs v Helos, Wing Drone Deliveries

As predicted... and leaked... and leaked... there is a new member of the Mavic family... the Mavic Mini.

Weighing just 249 grams, Mavic Mini is portable, easy to fly, designed for safety and perfect for everyone who wants to experience the fun of flying. Mavic Mini incorporates DJI’s safety technology, including geofencing to help drone pilots avoid restricted areas; AeroScope remote identification to help protect sensitive locations; built-in altitude limits; and automatic return to the launch point, if needed. Mavic Mini is the first DJI drone to weigh below 250 grams. Mavic Mini captures 2.7K video at 30fps, 1080p at 60 frames per second, or 12-megapixel photographs using the 1/2.3-inch sensor. A three-axis motorized gimbal supports and stabilizes the camera. It’s THAT time of year... again... as the 2019 AMA Expo West is coming up... tomorrow! Scheduled for November 1st to November 3rd, this year’s event is packed with attractions and activities. One of the pivotal aspects is the ever popular Expo Floor, where you can see the latest and greatest offerings in Model Aviation. The Expo Floor and their exhibits are open 1100-1700 on the 1st, 100-1700 on the 2nd, and 1100-1600 on the 3rd. The FAA has announced UAS airspace restrictions over additional national security sensitive locations, effective November 7. In cooperation with its federal partners, the FAA will restrict UAS operations in the airspace over 60 additional Department of Defense and Department of Justice facilities to address concerns about malicious drone activity. An FAA Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), FDC 9/7752, defines these special security instructions. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of the AMA Drone Report!!!
