Aero-TV: Survival Through Efficiency -- Piaggio Weathers Economic Storms

No Matter How Bad The Market, The Right Product CAN Survive

I've known Piaggio Aero's John Bingham for a quite a few years... going back to a time when he was marketing Cirrus SR20s and SR22s nationally and internationally with great success... long before taking on the mantle of leadership for Piaggio America -- a branch of Piaggio Aero Industries.

It had to be a tough realization... to be handed the reins to an organization repping one of the sexiest and most efficient business aircraft in the aviation world... while the world's economic health took a dive of unprecedented proportions. But... that Bingham guy doesn't know how to quit... and so Piaggio America survives despite conditions that have already totaled other companies.

Piaggio America has established an operational office at the West Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, where it handles the promotion, sale and service-after-the-sale of all P180 Avanti aircraft operating in North America. The company has also organized an extensive, efficient service and maintenance network for its customers.

Bingham credits his group's survival squarely on the fact that the aircraft is a compelling airframe in any economic situation... and while the world financial system is under stress, its hot little planes with great performance and economics that are likely to survive the worst of times -- even though overall sales, necessarily, take a hit.

Still, it takes creative thinking and innovative market to keep a good airplane flying and Bingham filled ANN and Aero-TV in on some of the measures he's taken to make sure that the P.180 not only keeps flying... but keeps selling in one of the worst markets this industry has seen in decades.
