Private Air Limo Service In NY To Get Swiss Branding

SWISSAIR Logo To Appear On Hopscotch Air Aircraft

A New York-based private air limo service has entered into a license agreement with a Swiss legacy carrier the companies say they hope will help "preserve the heritage" of the SWISSAIR brand.

Customers of Hopscotch Air, an on-demand air carrier based on Long Island, will soon see a SWISSAIR logo on certain Hopscotch aircraft, which will be co-branded SWISSAIR and Hopscotch Air. United States and Canadian regulators have approved the addition of the SWISSAIR name to the Hopscotch aircraft. Under FAA regulations, Hopscotch Air will be the sole operator of these aircraft.

“We’re honored that one of the world’s most prestigious airlines, with a connection to the dawn of commercial air travel, has entrusted with us such a significant part of their history,” Hopscotch Air CEO Andrew Schmertz said.

Swiss International Air Lines acquired the SWISSAIR brand in 2009. SWISSAIR was the national airline of Switzerland, founded in 1931. “This license agreement permits us to preserve the heritage of this classic brand in commercial aviation and reminds us of the pioneer days of commercial aviation in Switzerland when the former SWISSAIR started its business with two propeller driven Lockheed Orion's in 1931,” said Swiss International Air Lines.

Hopscotch Air and Swiss International Air Lines have agreed to discuss future collaboration between the two companies.
