Pan Am International Flight Training Center To Get B737-NG Sim

Lockheed Martin Commercial Flight Training To Deliver The Device To Thailand Location

Pan Am International Flight Training Center (Thailand) Limited has selected Lockheed Martin to provide a Boeing B737 Next Generation (NG) full flight simulator for its training center in Southeast Asia to meet the growing needs of airlines and pilots in the fastest-growing region in the world.

"In our meetings with Lockheed Martin, we were impressed by their team and their capabilities," said Gary Anderson, Pan Am International Flight Training Center's Chief Executive Officer. "We are committed to providing the highest quality aviation training services for our customers in our new training center and the addition of this simulator is a key part of our continued growth plan for Pan Am Thailand.

Anderson continues: "Our Thailand Training Center is relatively new, so the B737-NG, together with the Airbus A320 in operation now, and two additional full-motion simulators coming in 2015 onward will give us the fleet diversity Airlines in the region are demanding," Anderson said. "Lockheed Martin's B737-NG was a logical fit."

"The demand for pilot training in the Asia-Pacific region is growing at an unprecedented rate," said Sandy Samuel, Vice President and General Manager of Lockheed Martin Commercial Flight Training (LMCFT). "The International Air Transport Association reports that within two decades, the region will account for 42 percent of global air passenger traffic with an overall market size of 2.9 billion annual passengers. It is rewarding to see our simulators being installed in these regions to respond to the expanding marketplace."

The new B737-NG simulator will meet Boeing NG standards and will feature a number of advanced technologies including a state-of-the-art visual system for realistic imagery and a six degrees of freedom electro-pneumatic motion system which reduces operating costs. The simulator also has a movable forward-facing instructor operating station with multiple high definition touch screen color displays so that instructors can deliver robust, challenging training for pilots.

Installation will be completed in August 2015, with wet or dry training available for booking as early as July 1. The Thailand Training Center also includes an A320 simulator provided by LMCFT through a prior sale to Assumption University.
