Completed: Boundary Layer Research's King Air 200 Winglets

Boundary Layer Research has conpleted the development of its new King Air 200 Winglets... designed to aerodynamically enhance the King Air 200 series aircraft. Certification is expected by the October '04 NBAA Convention in Las Vegas.

BLR already manufactures performance enhancing winglets for the Beechcraft Duke, known as Marquis Winglets. The new King Air 200 Winglets will offer similar benefits to King Air 200 model aircraft and operators. As you may know, winglets increase the effective wingspan of the aircraft and decrease lift induced drag.

BLR notes that their new line of winglets will give King Air 200 pilots the capacity for lower liftoff speeds in short-field operations. When airborne, winglets provide increased high altitude stability and better cruise efficiency resulting in reduced fuel consumption or increased speed.

BLR President Bob Desroche feels that the development of the King Air 200 Winglet is an achievement that will greatly benefit customers. "The King Air 200 Winglet offers improvements in speed, performance, fuel economy, and handling. It further provides pilots with greater stability and safety margins. We're thrilled to be adding the new winglets to our fixed wing product line."

In addition to winglets, BLR is also evaluating several other performance enhancement devices aimed at improving runway and handling performance.
