PAMA Announces Second Regional Olympics Competition

Competing at Westchester Aviation Career Fair

No spandex, blood doping or foreign judge scoring controversies allowed, these competitors are serious about aviation maintenance. The Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA) announced its second regional PAMA Aviation Maintenance Olympics competition will be held May 19th-20th, 2005 during the Westchester Aviation Career Fair in White Plains, NY.

"The Aviation Maintenance Olympics is a forum to demonstrate the high degree of technical skill and professionalism that maintenance technicians apply at work every day," said Tom Yanus, PAMO Chair and Program Manager, Charles Taylor Department of Aviation Maintenance Science, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach in a news release. "The competitors are at the top of their game and truly represent the best of our industry."

Four PAMA chapters in the Great Lakes Region supported the first regional Olympic event at the Great Lakes International Aviation Conference in Lansing, MI in January. Very little warm-up or stretching was involved, these folks jumped right in and got down to business.

ANN was there and witnessed part of the competition including a trial run by guest speaker and Air show pilot Julie Clark. She is one of the sweetest ladies and best pilots you'll ever meet, but double check her safety wire!

Olympians compete in Safety Wire, Hardware Identification, and Hydraulic Line Fabrication. Snap-on tools is providing the prizes, so you know the competition will be intense. Information about registering as an individual or as a team, along with details of the events are available on the PAMA website. The local Westchester Aircraft Maintenance Association (WAMA) invited PAMA to this event.
